OVERVIEW
The OLS is delivered sterile and is composed of 2 parts, the instrument, consisting of the anvil, a white remote alignment and tissue retaining pin lever, closing and firing handle, black handle release push button, and the reload unit cartridge, containing the tissue retaining and alignment pin and staples. The OLS may be reloaded up to 7 times for a total of 8 firings in the same procedure when used on the same patient. Operator comfort and control is achieved through the ergonomic single handed operation design of the stapler. Clinical outcome is assured as the stapler creates perfect ‘B’ shaped staples consistently along the staple line.
The EVOMED OLS/OLSR is indicated for easy, efficient and convenient terminal closure of organs in gastrointestinal and bronchial tissuesin abdominal and thoracic surgical procedures respectively. It maybe used to replace manual suturing, reducing operating time, tissue handling and improving hemostasis.

- Bilateral tissue cutting guides on anvil
- Low profile anvil
- Manual or automatic tissue retaining pin
- Single handed operation to close/clamp and fire
- Tactile and audible feedback of closing, clamping and firing steps
- Firing lever locks after firing
- Parallel jaw closure
ADVANTAGES
- Facilitate accurate tissue positioning and clearance of obstructions before clamping
- Allows for a clean transection of tissue with scalpel close to the staple line
- Access to smaller cavities with manoeuvrability and greater visibility during the procedure
- Retains tissue within the jaws of the cartridge and anvil
- Aligns staple cartridge and anvil
- Facilitates ease of use
- Alerts the surgeon as to when steps in the operating sequence is completed
- Tissue remains clamped between anvil and cartridge
- Ensures consistent tissue compression and staple formation
BENEFITS
- Improves accuracy of transection
- Leaves minimal residual and redundant tissue beyond the staple line
- Can be used across a broader range of procedures
- Tissue does not fall out of the jawsEnsures consistent B shaped staple formation
- Promotes an efficiently performed procedure
- Surgeon may focus on the tissue and not on the instrument
- Allows for tissue transection before opening instrument
- Reduces potential for over or under compression of tissue and consequent leaks
